you run like him with your arms swung backwards and tiptoeing… you say “hiiiiii” in the same tone as him and when the cartoon ends or when dad leaves for work after lunch, you say “bye see u soon” in the most adorable way!

my little pocoyo is growing up so fast!

one cold night, I took out the blankie we bought when u were born to swaddle you… you’ve been taking it to sleep ever since. you hug it and keep it close to your face and sleep so peacefully

we would start off singing a, b,c,d… and you’ll continue from where we stopped. you are such a fast learner!

you can also count up to 10 without and problems. I’ve been trying to record it when you recite but haven’t been successful as yet cuz the moment you see me whip out my iPhone, you come to snatch it from me to play games or watch videos!

daddy bought us a netbook so that you can watch and use the Internet for interactive games! you my dear are one pampered child. you get toys every weekend without fail as well! lucky you to gave a daddy who cares and loves you so much!

You watched me stack the rings in the stand once and were determined to try it yourself so I passed it to you and you slowly put in the rings one by one in place. I was amazed at the rate u picked up. I’ve put away your toy cars and taken out building blocks and shape sorters for my little Einstein now

Playing peekaboo…but instead we go where is “mama” where where where ? And u go about the house following the sound of my voice and finally finding me saying “there there there!” how adorable can u get!? it’s your favourites game you will hide even in the darkest corner!

Mummy was working in the kitchen and left the child gate open so you could come thru. You like picking up bits of dirt from the floor but for the first time you picked up something and discarded it in the bin!!! I have never taught u to do that I suppose u watched mum N dad n picked it up yourself. I commended you and smiling cheekily you ran off the the hall, picked up your milk bottle cap and brought it to the bin and disposed it! Mummy couldn’t help laughing at your antics!

You were down with a ear infection fir 5 days starting on Sunday the 10th Jan and were put on antibiotics. Daddy took 2 days of leave to tend to you as mummy is pregnant and often very tired.you recovered within the 1st 2 days and mummy and daddy are so glad to see you up and about!

On the day you turned one, you woke up and as usual made your way to the living room to play with your toy cars. Mummy followed closely behind.You went straight to your dozer and waddya see! You held on to your hauler stood up and started walking… Your first steps! You took 5 steps before you fell!
Mamma quickly took some snaps of your acheivement and sent a SMS to daddy to inform him..

You my dear boy have taken your first steps into the realms of being a toddler!
My lil baby boy is no longer a crawling baby! He is a toddler!!

I did however, have tons of worry about the journey. 13 hours of keeping u seated or entertained was going to be a daunting task.

I had packed toys, munchies, extra clothes, milk, diapers and every nitty gritty stuff I could think of.

The plane was taking off and I couldn’t couldn’t get you to suck on your bottle to help you ease the pressure you’d have felt during the take off

I was surprised that you didn’t fuss when we took off. The fussing came about when you had to be restrained.

10th October 2008 @ 8 am
I wake up, empty my filled bladder and head back to bed thinking I still have an hour n half before waking for the day.

I return to slumberland only to be awakened 45 minutes later feeling warm and wet. I think to myself hmm I must have been perspiring again so I pull off the quilt and what do I see?
I feel the sheets around me, it’s all damp, even the badmadrassar is damp.

Could I have pee’d? But I just emptied my bladder it can’t be. I try to smell it but it doesn’t have a foul smell. Oh my water bag might have burst! I call daddy at work to inform him and then call the hospital to enquire what I should do?

They ask me to come to the hospital as soon as I can. So while waiting for your daddy to arrive, I take a warm shower and throw on some comfortable loose clothes. I take my pregnancy file and the camera and place it with the pregnancy bag.

Daddy arrives and we head to the hospital. I meet Gisele Tham, a really pretty midwife who tells us that she will first have to confirm by checkin the fluid by inserting a tube like apparatus to collect the fluid and then using litmus paper to confirm it.

The results confirm that my water bag had burst. I was asked if there were any contraction pains… I smiled and said no. I was so excited. The wait was finally going to be over.. At least that’s what I thought.

We were shown our room where we unpacked and made ourselves comfortable. Soon, they brought in a machine known as “Toko”which was to measure the length and intervals between my contractions.

The machine displayed none…
I was strapped to the device every 3 hours but still nothing. We had lunch, then dinner and even our night snack but still nothing showed up on the machine.

11th oct arrived and the same procedures were repeated but still nothing.

12th october still nothing but that night we met with Ingryed, a middle aged midwife. We discussed our birthplan with her and had a tour of the hospital. She advised us to go home as a change in environment might do us some good. The doctor came in and spoke to us and told us the same thing.

The next morning, we left for home. I cooked some simple lunch and had plenty of rest all the time hoping for some sign of pain. I didn’t know how contractions were suppose to feel I only knew it was going to be painful.

We were told that after 72 hrs if there still was no contractions, I would have to be induced.

72 hrs had gone by so the next morning at 735am i was back at the hospital and Giselle induced labour and placed me on intrevenous drips. One of which controlled the contraction duration and the other which was for you so that you won’t be infected in anyway.

In the beginning i only had very slow contractions about 6 minutes apart as the hours passed, they became closer together and little by little almost unbearable.. I exercised the breathing techniques I learnt from your Nana during our yoga sessions and used the birthing ball to roll, sway my hip from side to side and walked around with the support of a roller.. Soon I was 3 cm dilated then 5 and them 7cm, daddy was getting worried for at times the toko showed your heartbeat as zero when my contractions peaked. Daddy’s anxiety peaked too.

I used my first pain relief option- oxygen then acupunture and then nitrogen oxide I had decided not to take epidural as it had side effects and I wasn’t gonna let pain I felt affect you in anyway.

Daddy probably had his nerves wrecked, he was not pacing around the room but was beside me, holding on to me trying his best to keep calm and motivate me. Asking me a couple of times if I wanted epidural. Asking the midwives if I will have enough energy for the last stage of labour.

Each time I had one of those intense contractions, I had to take a deep breath and push with all my might.
The midwives assisted by helping to keep the vaginal canal open each time I tried so that there will be minimal damage to my tissues.

Finally when your head crowned, daddy and I touched it:) we feltbuour thick hair and scalp. You were coming out soon!

The toko showed it on the screen when my contractions occurred but this once it didn’t and so while your daddy and midwives looked surprisingly at my face I gave a hard push and there you came! With a loud wail, head and right arm together!

Finally after a 3 day wait and a 20 hour long labour, I did the most amazing thing. One more push and I had given birth to a tiny life.

Aditya Aaren Om arrived on the 14th October at 3am Swedish time.

Daddy cut your umbilical cord and after a few snaps, you were weighed and cleaned a little. While the placenta was delivered, you were placed on my chest and as you suckled, all I could do was adore you..,

The unassisted push caused quite abit of damage. I had to be stitched up. I was given some anaesthetic and they proceeded with the suthering while daddy, you and I bonded.

Soon after, I got up with you in my arms and sat on the futon in the room. Daddy was mentally drained and after assuring that we both were fine, fell asleep on the labour bed only to be rudely awakened by the beeping of the therometer that the nurse used to take your temperature.

We were served some sandwiches and fruits but who would want to spend time eating when such a adorable bundle lay in their arms?

We were shifted to the 4th floor. We stayed there for 3 days…

It probably isn’t as bad as I make it sound, when I say 39 degrees or not recovering for a week etc and that must be the reason why the medical staff back here says it’s natural and nothing to worry about.just give him alvedon and he’ll be fine.

Maybe it’s true, it is nothing to worry about… Since you’re still active and feeding well but it’s hard to explain it to ourselves(daddy was freaking out too!)

Especially when the H1N1 virus is slowly taking over the world…

Soon you started feeling a lil better and I started running a temperature, had sudden chills to the point of shivering at night, had swollen tonsils which forbade me from pratically swallowing my own saliva. All the symptoms of H1N1!
I being your primary caretaker have to be healthy. Falling I’ll is never an option.

I called their emergency hotline and the nurse on the other end told me to see a doc immediately. So I took down the number and started trying…

Calling, trying to interpret the message the answering machine was sending across. After many failed attempts and leaving my mobile number behind… I waited… An hour passed but mo one contacted me. I was feeling light headed. My room was spinning around me…

Desperate, I decided to call Eva, your nurse to seek help. She called me back after hearing the message I had left on her answering machine.

She was kind enough to call and book an appointment on my behalf. The earliest possible one the same day at 520pm. When she called me and informed me about it, it was 430. I quickly finished feeding you, gave u a quick bath and got you dressed then quickly put on some clean clothes, tidied my hair, made a bottle of milk and left home. Met daddy who came straight from work and headed down…

Headed down to where?? The clinic had shifted to a new location and no one knew where it was. After driving around in circles, I remembered aunt Emily who had been there once and got the directions from her.

Still we could not find it cuz there wad no sign or anything.finally 540pm we found the place. Dad dropped us at the enteranxe and went to park the car. I took the flight of stairs up and looked thru the glass door for assistance as it was locked.

After couple of minutes an elderly nurse opened the door for me. I was already in tears earlier, now they were streaming down my face. She directed us to the reception area. Your daddy had joined us a minute prior to this.

He made payments at the cashier and we headed to the doctors room. The doctor introduced himself Smith James. And we entered the room where you and I were both examined. He started off with you. Took your temperature, checked your throat and ears while daddy held you. Then he rook my temperature and did the same with my throat

We were handed over to the nurse who took our temperatures and tool our blood samples. She started off with me. I strarted chatting with daddy as I needed a diversion to my attention. Afraid of the pending pricking feel. It was over in a jiffy and then you were on the hot seat again with daddy. He held on to u while she prepared to prick your finger.I quickly took out my phone and opened the baby flash card application and I was soooo surprised. You didn’t nudge one bit when she did your test. You were paying 101% attention to the cards, the pain didn’t big you..proud moment fir mummy a d daddy there

We then sat down and waited for the results. And by gods grace it wasn’t any thing but a little virus.
